What are the Women's Summer Schools?


For almost 30 years, union Women's Summer Schools have brought together women from all sectors of the labor movement to develop skills as activist union members and leaders, build sisterhood across unions and regions, make new friends and try out new ideas.

Each year about 400 women in total attend the Summer Schools in four geographic regions: the South, East, Midwest, and West. This year, in the absence of a Southern School, students from southern states are invited to attend the Midwest School.







What the 2008 MSWW Summer School offers you!


Hands-on classes teach skills in workplace, union, and community.

Class Topics may include:

Member Mobilization  / Labor Law / Arbitration / Safety and Health / Leadership Skills / Global Economy / Electoral Politics / Working Women's Issues / Assessing U. S. Policy Costs






Special Guests!


Six union Sisters from Iraq and one from Central America will attend the 2008 school and share their stories.






Bridging the Generation Gap -


We've Invited high school student and college student activists!






Special Events include a labor art exhibit and a new documentary , "Mother Jones: America's Most Dangerous Woman"
